Arsenal Aims to Bolster Squad with Gyokeres and Mosquera
Mikel Arteta emphasized the necessity for Arsenal to rival top-tier teams to secure the Premier League title this season, asserting that his squad possesses the requisite qualities for success. He made these remarks on Tuesday.
After finishing as runners-up in the previous three seasons, Arsenal has been proactive in reinforcing their team. Key acquisitions include Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Christian Norgaard, and Kepa Arrizabalaga, amounting to a total expenditure exceeding £120 million ($138m).
The Gunners are anticipated to further fortify their lineup with potential signings of Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP and Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia.
Arteta noted the presence of approximately eight clubs with top-caliber players, stressing the importance of hard work to compete effectively against them. He further highlighted the need for heightened focus to maintain control.
“The reality is that there are six, seven, or eight other clubs in the league equipped with the necessary components to win, yet only one team can emerge as the champion. Therefore, we must concentrate intensely on the aspects we can influence and control to achieve our desired outcome at the season’s conclusion,” Arteta stated.
He acknowledged the team’s potential to clinch the title but recognized the escalating competition each year, underscoring the need to adapt and intensify their efforts accordingly.
“Indeed, I believe we have the potential. The league is becoming increasingly competitive annually, with rising standards. We are cognizant of this, and consequently, our demands must also elevate,” Arteta concluded.
