Ancelotti’s Future at Real Madrid in Doubt Amidst Brazil Job Rumors

Carlo Ancelotti, the current head coach of Real Madrid, might be nearing the conclusion of his time with the club. The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) is reportedly confident in their pursuit to appoint him as the next manager for the Brazil national team, with sights set on the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June.

Speculation regarding Ancelotti’s future at Madrid has intensified due to a less-than-stellar season. The club concluded the season without any major trophies, failing to secure victories in the Champions League and Copa del Rey, and ultimately finishing second to Barcelona in La Liga.

Following Madrid’s third defeat against Barcelona this season – a loss in the Copa del Rey final – Ancelotti commented, “My future will be addressed in the coming weeks, but not today.”

Barcelona has shown dominance over Madrid this season, winning all three of their head-to-head matches. These victories include a 5-2 triumph in the Spanish Super Cup final in January and a 4-0 victory in La Liga in October.

Brazilian businessman Diego Fernandes, believed to be representing the CBF, was observed at the Clásico. He is understood to have engaged in discussions aimed at convincing Ancelotti to accept the Brazil managerial position upon his departure from Real Madrid.

Ancelotti is expected to potentially succeed Dorival Junior, who was dismissed after Brazil’s 4-2 loss to Argentina in the prior month.

Currently, Brazil is positioned fourth in the South American World Cup qualifying standings, but they remain competitive for a spot in the expanded 48-team tournament, which will be hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada in the coming year.

The CBF anticipates that Ancelotti’s extensive experience could transform Brazil into formidable contenders for the title. While Ancelotti asserts that his contract with Real Madrid is valid until the end of the season, there is widespread anticipation that he may either resign or be dismissed by the club following an unsuccessful season.
