Ancelotti Praises Madrid’s Continued Legacy of ‘Extraordinary’ Players
Following Real Madrid’s 2-0 triumph over Real Sociedad at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Saturday, coach Carlo Ancelotti and Luka Modric, the 2018 Ballon d’Or recipient, expressed their farewells to the club.
Modric, who joined from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012, solidified his position in Real Madrid’s midfield through exceptional technique and innovative playmaking, participating in 591 matches and securing almost 30 trophies, notably a record-breaking six Champions League titles.
Ancelotti conveyed his pride in completing what he described as a remarkable chapter, noting that it was an honor to manage a club that felt like a family.
“I feel very content and proud; this has been a truly exceptional period. I cherish everything that has occurred, and I depart with the warmth of the fans, proud to have coached such a prestigious club for an extended time,” Ancelotti stated.
“Real Madrid is like a home, a family to me. It has felt that way for the past six years. We’ve enjoyed wonderful moments due to the titles won and the positive atmosphere.”
“There has been a strong bond between the club, myself, and the players. I’ve been fortunate to have outstanding players, and Real Madrid will continue to attract extraordinary talents. This day evokes the strongest emotions.”
“It’s natural to feel emotional; I leave with immense satisfaction.”
“It has been an honor and a privilege to be part of this family and to contribute to the club’s history. That was my aim from day one, and I believe I have achieved it.”
