United’s Struggle: One Point from Two Premier League Matches

Following a 1-1 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday, Ruben Amorim voiced his disappointment with Manchester United’s slow start to the Premier League season, emphasizing the team’s intense desire for victory.

An own goal from Leny Yoro gave United the lead in the 58th minute after Bruno Fernandes failed to convert a penalty in the first half.

Fulham’s substitute, Emile Smith Rowe, however, leveled the score 15 minutes later.

Having initiated their Premier League campaign with a 1-0 defeat at home against Arsenal the previous week, United currently has a single point from their initial two games. They are scheduled to face Grimsby Town in an away Carabao Cup match on Wednesday.

Reflecting on the draw with Fulham, Amorim commented on the need for his team to regroup and their strong aspiration to secure a win.

“I believe after we scored, we lost sight of our game plan. We have significant room for growth as a team,” Amorim stated.

“The pivotal moment was our goal. Our eagerness to win is so strong that after scoring, everyone focused on protecting our lead,” he added.

Amorim further elaborated that his team’s attempt to aggressively press their opponents resulted in exposing significant gaps.

He noted that this strategy ultimately impacted his team, as the momentum swung in Fulham’s favor following their equalizing goal.

“In my view, that is a moment to capitalize on and further pressure the opposition. We attempted a high press, which created a lot of open space,” he explained.

“A win provides a sense of relaxation, not in terms of intensity or playing style, but in maintaining composure. We faced challenges towards the end because Fulham’s goal shifted the game’s dynamic,” Amorim concluded.
