Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw to Face Mets’ Tylor Megill on Tuesday

LOS ANGELES: In a Major League Baseball (MLB) contest at Dodger Stadium on Monday, Francisco Alvarez’s 10th-inning double propelled the New York Mets to a 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Alvarez’s crucial double, his first RBI in a month, provided the Mets with a lead after nine innings of tied play.

Francisco Lindor had a standout performance, initiating the game with a leadoff homer and adding an RBI single in the 10th. These contributions assisted the Mets in extending their impressive streak, securing eight wins in their most recent nine games.

Shohei Ohtani contributed a 424-foot solo home run in the seventh inning, marking his fifth homer across seven games, tying him with Cal Raleigh for the highest number of home runs in MLB this season.

Tommy Edman singled at the start of the ninth and subsequently stole second base. He then scored the tying run on a sacrifice fly by Ohtani.

Following Alvarez and Lindor’s contributions in extra innings, which gave the Mets a 4-2 advantage, pitcher José Castillo encountered difficulties and walked Freddie Freeman. Andy Pages then hit an RBI single, narrowing the Dodgers’ deficit to 4-3.

After conceding a run in the 10th, Castillo managed to strike out both Max Muncy and Freeman. Subsequently, he was relieved by Jose Butto, who successfully fielded a hard ground ball from Edman to secure his first save of the season.

Paul Blackburn delivered five scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out three, including Ohtani twice, in his first MLB appearance since August of last year.

Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw is scheduled to pitch against the Mets’ Tylor Megill on Tuesday.
