Isak Reportedly Eager to Transfer to Liverpool
Newcastle United’s star striker, Alexander Isak, reportedly has his sights set on a summer move to Liverpool, according to reports on Tuesday.
The Swedish international is allegedly pushing for a transfer to the Reds before the transfer window concludes on September 1.
An offer from the Premier League club, consisting of £110 million accompanied by potential add-ons for Isak, was turned down by Newcastle earlier this month, leading Liverpool to consider alternative options.
It’s been suggested that the Newcastle forward was instructed to train separately last week amidst speculation surrounding his future.
Magpies’ manager Eddie Howe previously indicated that all possibilities are being evaluated concerning Isak’s future but did not factor him into his plans.
Given the present situation, Isak is anticipated to be absent from Newcastle’s Premier League season opener against Aston Villa on Saturday.
The Sweden international was also excluded from Howe’s 30-man squad for the team’s pre-season tour of Asia, due to what was described as a ‘minor thigh injury’.
Alexander Isak, who joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022 for £60 million, tallied 27 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions last season.
With three years remaining on his current contract, Newcastle has reportedly initiated the search for potential replacements should he depart, despite unsuccessful attempts to secure strikers this summer.
Newcastle remains proactive in the market, reportedly pursuing Brentford striker Yoane Wissa, who reportedly left the Bees’ pre-season camp in Portugal in July with aspirations of joining Newcastle.
Wissa resumed first-team training recently, however, the potential move still hangs in the balance.
