Sarfaraz Hails PCB’s Asia Cup 2025 Hosting Initiative in UAE
Former Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed has voiced his support for the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) decision regarding the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025. The tournament is now slated to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) next year.
This year’s Asia Cup, following the T20 format, was originally scheduled to be hosted by India.
However, due to existing political tensions between India and Pakistan, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) opted to relocate the event to a neutral location, the UAE.
During a media interaction at a private function, Sarfaraz was asked to share his perspective on hosting the continental tournament.
The wicketkeeper-batsman responded by endorsing the PCB’s position concerning the eight-team competition.
“Pakistan’s approach for the Asia Cup is commendable. With the Asia Cup being staged in the UAE, Pakistan’s initiative was the best course of action,” Sarfaraz commented.
Sarfaraz Ahmed also spoke about the national men’s team’s performance in the ongoing away ODI series against the West Indies, expressing optimism for Pakistan to secure a series victory.
“They are performing admirably. They should continue this momentum, and with God’s grace, they will win the series.”
The three-match ODI series between the West Indies and Pakistan is currently tied at 1-1. The hosts claimed a narrow five-wicket win in the second ODI, which was affected by rain, at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba on Sunday.
The series-deciding third match is scheduled to take place at the same venue on Tuesday.
Before the ODI series, the two sides also competed in a three-match T20I series, which Pakistan won 2-1.
