Salman Agha Blames Pitch Conditions for Series Defeat

DHAKA: Following the T20I series loss to Bangladesh, Pakistan’s cricket team captain, Salman Ali Agha, stated that the team’s failure to properly implement their strategies led to the defeat. He also pointed out that the pitches used were not conducive to the team’s preparations for the upcoming Asia Cup and World Cup tournaments.

During the post-match press briefing, Salman underscored the importance of performing well under all circumstances, while expressing his belief that they are unlikely to encounter similar pitch conditions going forward.

“These pitches are not suitable for getting ready for the Asia Cup and the World Cup. I don’t think we will see such surfaces in the future. It’s true that our performance in this series was not up to par,” he commented.

He acknowledged that a key factor in the defeat was the inadequate execution of their game plans.

“I don’t anticipate encountering such conditions again, and regardless of the conditions, we need to avoid focusing on them; our responsibility is to perform,” he added.

Salman mentioned that the squad is still under construction but affirmed they’re progressing positively.

“We had analyzed the situation, but our implementation of the plan fell short. The team we are trying to develop is heading in the right direction, and as we continue to follow the established process, improvements will follow,” he said.

Acknowledging the inconsistency in the team’s displays, Salman conveyed they are actively addressing this issue, as consistency is critical for achieving success.

“Our consistency needs improvement. We are discussing it and working to resolve it. As players and as a team, we are all putting in the effort to make our performances more consistent,” he further stated.

Expressing his satisfaction with his own captaincy, Salman refuted claims of a decline in his personal form.

“Since I took over as captain, my performance has greatly improved. I believe I’m also on the right path. Everyone is always learning, myself included. As for suggestions about my poor form, those are simply inaccurate,” he concluded.
