Beever-Jones Confident, Ready for Wales Match, Says Coach Wiegman Aware
Chelsea striker Aggie Beever-Jones conveyed her eagerness on Saturday to contribute significantly for England in the ongoing UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.
Beever-Jones, who previously achieved a first-half hat-trick against Portugal at Wembley during a Nations League match in May, was absent from the Lionesses’ starting lineup in their Euro 2025 opener, where they suffered a 2-1 defeat against France.
Following the match, Beever-Jones mentioned that she respected coach Sarina Wiegman’s decision after Wiegman comforted her, explaining that it was a ‘tough’ match.
“Sarina and I discussed the situation, and ultimately, I must respect her choice,” Beever-Jones stated.
“She acknowledged it as a challenging game and opted to bring on other players. I have to accept that,” she added.
The 21-year-old made her debut in an international tournament during England’s dominant 4-0 victory over the Netherlands on Wednesday, entering the game as a substitute in the later stages.
The forward is now presented with a significant challenge to secure a spot in England’s initial lineup for their final group-stage match against Wales, given the presence of top-tier strikers such as Lauren James and Alessia Russo. A victory would secure a place in the quarter-finals.
Despite the competition, Aggie Beever-Jones asserted that she remains vigilant and prepared for the crucial encounter with Wales.
“I understand my capabilities, and I’ve demonstrated my ability to make an impact off the bench for two years at Chelsea. Sarina is fully aware of this and knows that I will be prepared whenever the opportunity arises.”
