Samad’s Remarkable Century Guides Shaheens to Victory Over Renegades by 73 Runs

DARWIN: Abdul Samad of Pakistan Shaheens described his century against Melbourne Renegades in the Top End T20 Series as among his finest innings in the T20 format. His outstanding performance occurred on Monday.

Samad propelled Pakistan Shaheens with an impressive unbeaten 110 runs from 63 balls. His innings featured six boundaries and six maximums, which helped the team recover from a poor beginning that saw them stumble to 2 wickets down in just 1.5 overs.

After his batting display, the Shaheens’ bowlers put in a combined effort, successfully defending a target of 178 runs, restricting the Renegades to only 105 runs in 19.2 overs.

Samad was named Player of the Match for establishing the groundwork for a convincing win, which was the Shaheens’ second in the tournament involving 11 teams.

During the post-match presentation, Samad conveyed his satisfaction with guiding Pakistan Shaheens to a respectable total and regarded his first-ever T20 century as a top performance in the format.

“Initially, the team faced difficulties, losing two wickets early. I realized that batting conditions were challenging, so my aim was to bat through the entire 20 overs and remain at the crease, which contributed to achieving a good total,” Samad stated.

“This innings ranks among my best at this level. I am grateful to Almighty Allah,” he added.

Samad also lauded the Shaheens’ bowling attack, expressing his confidence in their ability to defend a total exceeding 150.

“Our team possesses great balance, and we understand our strengths. Our bowling is exceptional. While I was batting, I was confident that if we could reach 150 or more, our bowlers would easily defend it,” Samad concluded.
