PM Shehbaz Lauds Arshad Nadeem for Elevating Pakistan’s Prestige
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have congratulated national javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem on his gold medal victory at the Asian Athletics Championship, which took place in South Korea this past Saturday.
In his released statement, President Zardari noted that Nadeem has once again brought honor to Pakistan in the javelin throw discipline. He commended the Olympian for his exceptional performance throughout the entirety of the championship, including his performance in the final round.
President Zardari also extended his congratulations to the entire nation on Nadeem’s remarkable achievement, stating that the country is proud of his outstanding display of skill.
Similarly, PM Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged Arshad Nadeem’s stellar performance for enhancing the reputation of Pakistan on the global stage.
“My sincere congratulations to Arshad Nadeem,” the prime minister posted on X. “Your outstanding performance and unwavering commitment have made the whole nation proud. Well done,” he added.
Arshad delivered a remarkable performance at the esteemed championship, holding the top spot throughout the final round of the competition.
During his third attempt, Arshad achieved an impressive throw of 85.57 meters, which put him ahead of all other competitors.
He continued to perform well, throwing 83.99 meters in his fourth attempt. Following the initial five rounds, he maintained a secure lead at the top of the leaderboard.
In a stunning final attempt, Arshad achieved his best throw of the day, reaching a distance of 86.40 meters, solidifying his lead and ultimately securing the gold medal.
This accomplishment marks him as the first Pakistani athlete in over half a century to secure a gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championships. It also marks Pakistan’s first gold since 1973, when Allah Dada and Muhammad Younis claimed top honors in the javelin throw and 800 meters, respectively, during the competition held in the Philippines.
