Karachi Intermediate Exams Postponed Due to Public Holiday
The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has declared that the upcoming intermediate examinations scheduled for Wednesday have been rescheduled.
This adjustment follows the Sindh government’s announcement of May 28 as a public holiday in observance of Youm-e-Takbeer.
Under the instruction of BIEK Chairman Ghulam Hussain Soho, the rescheduled examination date for the Science Pre-Medical and Science General groups is now set for May 30.
Revised Exam Schedule
According to the updated schedule:
- Botany Paper I (for both new and old courses, including students who previously did not pass), initially planned for May 28 from 9am to 11am, will now take place on May 30 during the same time slot.
- English (Normal) Paper I (for new and old courses, including students who previously did not pass) and English Advanced Paper I (for students who previously did not pass), originally scheduled for May 28 from 2pm to 5pm, will now be administered on May 30 from 3pm to 6pm.
The board has confirmed that the examination venues will remain unchanged.
Background on Youm-e-Takbeer
May 28 is a nationally observed gazetted holiday, a fact formally announced by the Cabinet Division the previous year.
On this day in 1998, Pakistan achieved the status of the seventh nuclear power worldwide and the first among Islamic countries, marked by successful nuclear tests.
India’s initial testing of its nuclear capability in 1974 spurred Pakistan to accelerate its nuclear program with heightened dedication.
Accompanied by exclamations of “Allah-o-Akbar,” Pakistan conducted its initial test on May 28, 1998, in the Ras Koh hills of Balochistan’s Chaghai district.
These nuclear tests underscored Pakistan’s commitment to protect its territorial integrity, independence, and sovereignty, as well as to maintain strategic equilibrium in South Asia.
