Trump Announces UFC White House Event
During a speech at Naval Station Norfolk, President Donald Trump revealed that a UFC event will occur at the White House on June 14 of the upcoming year, coinciding with his 80th birthday.
The announcement was delivered as part of a speech commemorating the US Navy’s approaching 250th anniversary.
UFC icon Conor McGregor is anticipated to be the main attraction as he prepares to make his highly anticipated return.
Back in July, Trump mentioned that a UFC event would be held at the White House in 2026 as part of the American independence’s 250th anniversary but omitted a specific date.
He is known to consider UFC CEO Dana White a trusted friend and views fans of the sport as part of his political support, with connections that go back well before his time as president.
As part of preparations for the event, considerable upgrades are expected at the White House, including a $700,000 project to replace the South Lawn grass following the event, as stated by the UFC White House CEO to the Sports Business Journal this week.
Trump’s enthusiasm for UFC spans a considerable period. He has attended numerous matches since assuming the presidency, most recently in New Jersey in June.
Trump and White’s relationship traces back to 2000, a time when Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City stood out as one of the few US venues prepared to host UFC events.
TKO Group Holdings, the parent organization of UFC, has not yet provided any statement in response to requests for comments.
