Verstappen Stays with Red Bull Despite Management Changes

Reigning Formula One champion Max Verstappen has reassured supporters that the recent change in leadership, specifically Christian Horner’s departure as Red Bull team principal, won’t compromise his dedication to the team. Ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix on Thursday, Verstappen referred to Red Bull as his ‘second family’.

In statements to the press, Verstappen recognized the administration’s choice to guide the team in a different direction. He also emphasized the significance of concentrating on the future.

“The leadership decided they wanted to navigate the team in a new direction, most likely. Everyone needs to accept that and anticipate what’s coming. And I am doing exactly that,” Verstappen stated.

“I am equally thrilled for the team as we move forward because that’s the necessary course of action. Dwelling on the past is unproductive, and it won’t improve our speed.”

The Dutch racer conveyed his appreciation for his enduring relationship with Red Bull, emphasizing the deep emotional connection developed over time.

“Concurrently, we deeply value those 20 years and, personally, the 10 or 11 years during which I’ve been part of Red Bull. These memories will be cherished,” he mentioned.

“The bond between Christian and myself, for instance, remains unchanged. Although he is not physically present during race weekends, it still feels like a second family to me.”

Verstappen, who boasts four world championships with Red Bull, is contracted with the team until 2028. He has verified that he communicated with Horner and expressed admiration for the incoming team principal, Laurent Mekies, thus showing his optimism for the team’s prospects.

Despite the ambiguity surrounding Red Bull’s restructuring of its management, Verstappen has clearly indicated that his commitment to the team remains unwavering as they forge ahead with their vision.
