South Africa to Host Majority of ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 Matches

Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced on Thursday that eight venues across South Africa will stage 44 of the 54 matches in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027.

The selected locations are Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha, Bloemfontein, East London, and Paarl.

The remaining 10 matches of the tournament will be jointly hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia.

The announcement occurred during CSA’s Local Organising Committee (LOC) unveiling ceremony, where Trevor Manuel, a former minister, was named as the committee’s chair to manage the event’s execution.

Notably, the Cricket World Cup 2027 marks the first ICC men’s event in South Africa since the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2009. The nation also hosted the inaugural ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2007.

South Africa has also been the venue for two Women’s World Cups: an ODI World Cup in 2005 and the 2023 T20 World Cup, where the Proteas were defeated by Australia in the final.
