Usman Khan Aims for Team Success and PSL Record
Lahore: Multan Sultans’ opening batsman, Usman Khan, recently played a crucial inning against Islamabad United on April 23 at Multan Cricket Stadium. He is now directing his energy toward the team’s overall achievement.
Despite the fluctuating dynamics of T20 cricket, Khan has expressed certainty in the Sultans’ prospects of qualifying for the playoffs.
In a discussion with the media on Friday in Lahore, Khan stated, “We still have five games ahead, and Multan Sultans are capable enough to secure victories in these contests and make it to the playoffs.”
Khan’s hopeful outlook highlights the determination within the team, indicating that despite the unpredictable nature of T20 cricket, the Sultans possess the capabilities to improve their standing and progress to the playoffs.
The 29-year-old, a member of the PSL title-winning team in 2021, emphasizes the value of resilience and a persistent approach.
He referenced the team’s successful journey in 2021, during which they bounced back from a difficult beginning, securing four victories in their final five games and ultimately winning the championship. This is a motivating reminder that the season is still ongoing and that consistent performance can shift the momentum in their favor.
While Usman Khan is primarily focused on the team’s performance, he has also established personal aims for the remaining part of the competition.
Currently, the powerful batter shares the record with Kamran Akmal for the most centuries scored in PSL history and has conveyed his ambition to add another century to his list.
He clarified, “I prioritize the team over my individual statistics, aiming to deliver performances that contribute to the team’s success.”
He further added, “I am determined to score a century in this tournament and become the batsman with the highest number of centuries in PSL history.”
Regarding preparation, the wicketkeeper-batsman highlighted the team’s rigorous training leading up to the competition.
He stated, “Our preparation for this tournament has been outstanding, and we have been dedicated in all our training sessions,” assuring fans that the Sultans are both mentally and physically equipped to handle the challenges of the remaining matches.
Currently, the Rizwan-led Sultans are at the bottom of the PSL 10 points table with one win and four losses out of five games, totaling two points.
Their next match is scheduled against Lahore Qalandars at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on April 26.
