US Consul General Visits Hyderabad to Strengthen Ties

US Consul General Scott Urbom recently concluded an official trip to Hyderabad, where he engaged with government representatives, young leaders, academics, business figures, and alumni of US public diplomacy initiatives, according to a press release on Tuesday.

The purpose of the visit was to reinforce the enduring bonds between the people of both nations and enhance economic cooperation.

Pakistan-US Alumni Network Reunion

During his stay in Jamshoro, Consul General Urbom participated in the Pakistan-US Alumni Network (PUAN) reunion, where he interacted with experienced alumni. The gathering showcased the positive effects of US exchange programs and highlighted alumni-driven projects promoting economic progress, public well-being, and youth involvement.

Urbom’s Remarks

“The alumni in Jamshoro are actively realizing their visions,” Urbom stated. “They are utilizing US government funding to initiate technology programs, improve safety measures, and implement community-based solutions that uplift local populations.”

English Access Scholarship Program

Consul General Urbom also attended the closing ceremony of the English Access Scholarship Program held at Government College University Hyderabad.

The two-year initiative provided 75 students with skills in English, critical thinking abilities, and intercultural awareness. Urbom commented, “Through these educational investments, the United States aims to foster long-term stability and prosperity.”

Discussions with Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry

In his dialogue with the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the consul general addressed the region’s agricultural and commercial environment. He also assessed prospects for US trade and investment to strengthen economic connections between the two nations.

Engagement with Students

Consul General Urbom expressed his appreciation for the chance to meet with students at the Lincoln Corner Hyderabad, situated in the Shamsul Ulema Daudpota Library, for a sports diplomacy presentation focusing on baseball and cricket.

The consul general’s visit emphasized the significance of US-Pakistan collaboration in education, economic partnerships, and community development — furthering diplomatic goals that enhance the safety, strength, and prosperity of both countries, the statement noted.
