US Diplomat Underscores Commitment to Bolstering Economic Ties with Pakistan
During her recent visit to Karachi, US Charge d’ Affaires Natalie Baker reaffirmed the United States’ dedication to strengthening trade and investment relations with Pakistan. She emphasized the crucial role of private sector leadership and economic collaboration in fostering mutual prosperity.
According to a statement released by the US embassy, the diplomat was in Karachi from April 23-24, where she engaged with top executives from prominent Pakistani companies. Discussions centered on prevailing economic trends, potential investment opportunities, and strategies to enhance commercial cooperation.
The discussions also encompassed Pakistan’s ongoing collaboration with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), initiatives aimed at improving the business environment, and enhancing regional trade connectivity.
“The United States places great importance on its economic partnership with Pakistan, viewing robust business alliances as vital for creating shared economic success,” Baker stated.
Baker also engaged with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and other provincial government representatives to explore possibilities for greater economic synergy. Their dialogue included reciprocal trade, collaboration in the energy sector, and advancements in science and technology.
Moreover, during a meeting with the American Business Council, she spoke with representatives from US-affiliated firms about the prospects within Pakistan’s burgeoning tech industry.
“The expansion of Pakistan’s tech sector demonstrates how accessible, equitable, and competitive markets can stimulate innovation, increase exports, and generate employment opportunities that benefit both our nations,” she added.
The visit highlighted fresh prospects for expanding cooperation between the US and Pakistan in commerce, investments, and enterprise, thereby facilitating export growth, attracting investments, and creating employment, which will collectively fortify both nations.
