US Diplomat Reaffirms Commitment to Bolstering Economic Ties with Pakistan
During her recent trip to Karachi, US Charge d’ Affaires Natalie Baker reiterated Washington’s dedication to strengthening trade and investment relations with Pakistan. She emphasized the pivotal role of private sector leadership and enhanced economic collaboration in achieving mutual prosperity.
According to a statement released, the diplomat’s visit to Karachi spanned from April 23 to 24. During this time, she engaged with top executives from prominent Pakistani companies, discussing prevailing economic trends, potential investment opportunities, and strategies aimed at improving commercial cooperation.
Discussions centered on Pakistan’s ongoing collaboration with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), initiatives designed to create a more favorable business environment, and the promotion of regional trade connectivity.
“The United States places great importance on its economic partnership with Pakistan and views strong business partnerships as essential for fostering shared prosperity,” she stated.
Baker also met with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and other government officials to explore potential avenues for increased economic partnership. Their discussions encompassed reciprocal trade, collaboration in the energy sector, and advancements in science and technology.
Furthermore, during a meeting with the American Business Council, she interacted with representatives from US-affiliated companies to discuss the prospects of Pakistan’s expanding technology industry.
“The burgeoning tech sector in Pakistan demonstrates how accessible, equitable, and competitive marketplaces can stimulate innovation, increase exports, and generate employment opportunities that benefit both nations,” she added.
The visit underscored fresh prospects for expanding collaboration between the US and Pakistan in areas such as trade, investment, and business, thereby facilitating export growth, attracting investment, and creating employment opportunities that will lead to increased strength, security, and prosperity for both nations.
