New US Consul General Arrives in Karachi

Charles Goodman has officially commenced his duties as the Consul General at the US Consulate General located in Karachi. According to an official statement released on Thursday, this appointment underscores the United States’ continued dedication to cultivating a robust and enduring alliance with Pakistan.

The US mission in Pakistan circulated a summary of Goodman’s professional background, noting that he is a seasoned member of the Senior Foreign Service, bringing a wealth of expertise to this assignment.

Most recently, Goodman held the position of Management Counselor for the US Mission encompassing New Zealand and Samoa.

Before that, he served as Management Counselor and Acting Deputy Chief of Mission in Pristina, Kosovo.

His career highlights include leading the logistics division within the Executive Office of the Secretary, in addition to his role as Deputy Director of the Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Section in Lima, Peru.

Goodman’s previous international postings include assignments in Latvia, Georgia, and Argentina, demonstrating his extensive global acumen.

He was also stationed in Lahore, Pakistan, from 2011 to 2012. Prior to his entry into the US Foreign Service in 2006, Goodman dedicated two decades to the private sector, where he held leadership positions across financial services, real estate, and technology industries.

He earned an MBA from Duke University and a BS in Information Systems from the University of Tampa.

His diverse background and leadership capabilities equip him to strengthen the US-Pakistan partnership, with a focus on promoting economic prosperity, trade cooperation, security collaboration, and fostering stronger interpersonal bonds between citizens of the United States and the people of Sindh and Balochistan in Pakistan.

The statement concluded, “Goodman is dedicated to promoting US objectives that foster a more secure, resilient, and prosperous America while simultaneously reinforcing the US-Pakistan relationship. He eagerly anticipates connecting with key individuals, engaging with local communities, and immersing himself in Pakistan’s renowned hospitality and culinary traditions.”
