Multan Sultans are set to clash with Lahore Qalandars on Saturday at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, marking their sixth match in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10. Following this, they will remain in Lahore for another game on April 28, where they will compete against Quetta Gladiators.

In their PSL 10 campaign thus far, Multan Sultans have secured victory in just one of their five matches. This win came against Lahore Qalandars at Multan Cricket Stadium, with a margin of 33 runs. Conversely, Lahore Qalandars have achieved two wins but suffered defeat in three out of their five matches.

Historically, the two teams have engaged in 20 matches, with Multan Sultans leading with 11 wins compared to Lahore’s nine.

Ubaid Shah Remains Focused Amidst Family Connection

Speaking to the media in Lahore on Friday, Ubaid Shah, the young fast bowler from Multan Sultans, voiced his satisfaction with his individual performance in the current tournament. He also conveyed optimism about contributing to his team’s success in the matches ahead.

Addressing a question about competing against his brother, Naseem Shah, who is a member of Islamabad United, Ubaid Shah underscored that familial bonds do not interfere with his competitive spirit.

“I set aside any thoughts of my brother being on the opposing side. At this level, it’s all about intense competition, and putting forth your best effort for the team,” Ubaid stated.

Light-hearted Moment on the Field

The right-arm bowler also recounted a funny moment from a previous game against Lahore Qalandars, where he accidentally hit wicketkeeper Usman Khan on the head while celebrating a wicket.

“I immediately said sorry to Usman after it happened. He responded with a joke, saying that next time I get a wicket, he’ll chase after me the same way. And he did, but I was careful not to make the same mistake again,” Ubaid recounted with a laugh.

Notably, the emerging pacer has claimed seven wickets in four matches, including a remarkable 3/37 performance against Lahore Qalandars.

The 19-year-old bowler expressed contentment with his performance to date and acknowledged the constant support from the team management and captain.

He further added that his strategy involves adhering to the team’s plans and consistently aiming to bowl aggressively from the outset to make crucial breakthroughs that benefit the team.
