UAE Announces Squad for Asia Cup 2025

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has revealed its 17-member team for the forthcoming Asia Cup 2025, scheduled to be led by Muhammad Waseem.

The squad includes two fresh faces: right-arm fast bowler Matiullah Khan and left-arm spinner Simranjeet Singh. These players are currently participating in the T20I tri-series against Pakistan and Afghanistan. The remaining squad members have kept their positions.

Matiullah, aged 32, has previously played in one ODI and five T20Is. His most recent appearance was in July against Nigeria during the Pearl of Africa Series.

Simranjeet, aged 35, has played for the UAE in five ODIs and 11 T20Is. His last appearance was at the Gulf T20I Championship in December 2023.

This marks the UAE’s first participation in the Asia Cup since 2016, when the tournament was held in Bangladesh using the T20 format.

A total of eight teams, distributed into two groups, will compete for the title. Group A includes Pakistan, India, UAE, and Oman, while Group B consists of Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and Hong Kong.

The Emirates team will begin their campaign against India on September 10, followed by a match against Oman on September 15, and will conclude the group stage against Pakistan on September 17.
