Triple H Reflects on Complex Relationship with CM Punk
WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque, has shed light on his historically complicated rapport with wrestling star CM Punk, attributing it primarily to ‘miscommunication.’
During a recent podcast appearance, Levesque explained that Punk viewed him as an ‘adversary’ and lacked trust, which hindered any potential partnership between them. Punk is a two-time WWE champion.
“I believe many of our disagreements over the years stemmed from poor communication,” Levesque stated.
“I was the intermediary between the creative team’s vision and his, striving to find common ground. However, from his perspective, I was perceived as the antagonist.
“Because he didn’t have faith in me, it prevented him from being receptive. Collaboration requires openness, and his closed-off nature made it impossible.”
Punk initially departed from WWE in 2014 after experiencing escalating discontent.
He later revealed grappling with significant health issues, including broken ribs, knee problems, concussions, and a severe, untreated MRSA infection that he asserted nearly took his life.
Aside from his health struggles, Punk expressed dissatisfaction with being passed over for a WrestleMania main event and receiving lower compensation compared to other prominent performers, particularly at WrestleMania 29.
The wrestler made his comeback to the company in November 2023 at WWE’s Survivor Series and has since been involved in rivalries with figures such as Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns.
