Meteorological Insights

Chief Meteorologist Aamir Haider stated that the Malir, Quaidabad and surrounding area has experienced four tremors since Saturday. According to him, a quake occurred at 5:33 pm yesterday, registering a magnitude of 3.6 at a depth of 10 kilometres, with its epicenter also located near Quaidabad.

Another tremor occurred at 1:06 am the previous night, measuring a magnitude of 3.2 with a depth of 12 kilometres, originating near Gadap Town.

Aamir Haider clarified that the tremors originate from the Landhi Fault Region, which, historically, has not been associated with major earthquakes. He indicated that the area is seismically active, alongside another fault line close to Thana Bula Khan.

He further mentioned that low-intensity earthquakes are frequently reported in these areas. The Kirthar region, near the Main Boundary Thrust, occasionally experiences moderate tremors. He added that the fault line might need several days to achieve stability, and minor tremors may persist in the near future.
