Multiple Accidents Claim Lives in Punjab and Sindh

Tragedy struck on Sunday as at least ten individuals lost their lives and numerous others sustained injuries in two separate accidents involving passenger vehicles in Chakwal, Punjab, and Jamshoro, Sindh.

Chakwal Bus Accident

Near Dhok Sial, eight people died when a passenger bus en route from Islamabad to Lahore careened into a roadside ditch on the motorway. A police spokesperson indicated that the accident occurred due to the bus driver’s reckless actions. The incident also left 18 individuals wounded, who were subsequently transported to Kallar Kahar Trauma Centre and DHQ hospital for treatment.

Jamshoro Collision

In a separate incident, a passenger coach heading to Hyderabad from Karachi collided with a truck on the M-9 Motorway in the Jamshoro district. Rescue personnel reported that this collision resulted in the deaths of two people and injuries to eight others, including women and children. The fatalities included the truck driver and the coach’s conductor.

Road accidents involving passenger buses are unfortunately frequent on Pakistani highways. These incidents often stem from a combination of factors, including driver negligence, excessive speed, and adverse road or weather conditions.

Just last Sunday, a series of accidents in Sindh resulted in at least nine fatalities when two buses overturned in Thatta and Khairpur, causing injuries to over 40 passengers. The initial accident took place at Darsgah Muhammad Ali on the National Highway, where a speeding bus carrying picnickers from Karachi to Keenjhar Lake overturned, claiming six lives and injuring more than 20 people. Simultaneously, near Tando Masti in Khairpur, a passenger bus traveling from Karachi to Mansehra overturned on the National Highway, resulting in three deaths and injuries to more than 25 individuals.

Earlier this month, on July 5, a collision between a passenger bus and a trailer in Muzaffargarh’s Langar Sarai area led to six deaths and 18 injuries. The bus, which was traveling from Lahore to Ali Pur, collided with the trailer, resulting in the tragic loss of life.
