COAS Asim Munir Meets Iranian Military Chief in Tehran
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir met with Major General Mohammad Bagheri, the Chief of General Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, at the General Staff Headquarters in Tehran. The meeting took place on Tuesday, according to a statement released by the military’s media wing.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that the two top military officials discussed the shifting regional security situation, with a strong emphasis on strengthening defense cooperation between the two nations.
The statement elaborated, “Key mutual interests that were discussed included strengthening military cooperation, improving security along the shared border, and investigating ways to turn the border areas into trade and economic hubs, hence promoting regional stability and prosperity.”
Upon arrival, Field Marshal Asim Munir received a gracious greeting, which featured a formal guard of honor by a smartly dressed unit of the Iranian Armed Forces.
Earlier, COAS, accompanied by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, had separate meetings with Ayatollah Syed Ali Hosseini Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, and Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran.
The army chief is currently on an official tour of Turkiye, Iran, and Azerbaijan, accompanying the Prime Minister’s delegation on visits to these three friendly nations.
