PM Shehbaz Sharif and Services Chiefs Visit ISI Headquarters

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by the services chiefs, visited the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) headquarters on Tuesday. They were given an in-depth briefing regarding the current security situation, focusing particularly on readiness against potential threats given India’s increasingly assertive stance on the eastern border.

According to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office, the senior leadership from both civil and military sectors received updates on regional security dynamics and the evolving threat landscape. This included discussions on conventional military strategies, hybrid warfare techniques, and the utilization of terrorist proxies.

PM Shehbaz, along with the accompanying officials, stressed the critical need for enhanced national vigilance, smooth collaboration among agencies, and strengthened operational readiness. The aim is to effectively deter and respond to any infringement upon Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Acknowledging the ISI’s expertise and strategic insight, the Prime Minister commended its essential contribution to protecting national interests and enabling well-informed national security decisions in challenging circumstances.

“The entire nation stands with our courageous armed forces. The Pakistan Army is among the most skilled and well-disciplined forces globally,” the Prime Minister stated.

The high-ranking civil-military officials reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to defending the nation against all threats, whether traditional or otherwise. They reiterated that, with the nation’s complete support, the armed forces, backed by all elements of national power and state institutions, remain fully prepared to safeguard Pakistan’s security, prestige, and honor under any conditions.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, were present with the Prime Minister during the visit.

Tensions have escalated between the two nuclear-armed nations following a deadly attack on tourists in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) last month.

New Delhi has accused Islamabad of involvement in the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in 26 fatalities—an accusation that Islamabad has firmly rejected as unfounded, leading to a series of strong rebuttals and diplomatic measures.

Islamabad asserts it possesses “credible intelligence” suggesting India’s intention to initiate military action, raising concerns about potential conflict between the two countries.
