J.K. Spinning Mills to Enhance Green Energy Capacity

J.K. Spinning Mills Limited (JKSM), a textile company based in Pakistan, is set to expand its green energy production by incorporating an additional 7MW of capacity as part of its planned strategic advancements.

The publicly traded firm announced these plans in a notification submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Thursday.

The notice stated, “We have already established 7MW of solar green energy, and discussions with vendors are in progress for an additional 7MW to decrease energy expenses.”

The business also mentioned that financial backing from banks for this investment has been secured.

Across Pakistan, there’s an increasing move toward using alternative energy sources, especially solar power, which is becoming more and more common in both homes and businesses.

This growing pattern poses challenges for policymakers regarding its effects on the national power grid and the energy industry, especially as electricity demand remains steady.

Nevertheless, various initiatives have been launched to utilize this comparatively more affordable energy source.

In addition, J.K. Spinning communicated to its stakeholders its intention to integrate advanced and automated technology to streamline operations.

“We are introducing one automated flat sheet cross hemming unit to improve how flat sheets are stitched with automatic fabric movement, along with one automatic pillowcase side-closing unit, which will cost a total of Rs161 million.”

The company stated that Letters of Credit have been set up with banks, and all financial arrangements are secured.

The company added, “This will assist in boosting efficiency, lowering labor costs, and improving the consistency and precision of work.”

The management has also made the decision to transform 34,224 spindle units into an Open-End Spinning System featuring 6,000 rotors.

The company explained, “This calculated action will permit the usage of Comber-Noil waste, which will promote the manufacturing of yarns that fulfill the sustainability standards set by international purchasers.”

The company added that commercial production is scheduled to begin in September.

JKSM, established in Pakistan on January 7, 1987, is a public limited company operating under the Companies Act, 2017. The company’s operations include textile manufacturing activities such as ginning, spinning, stitching, and the buying and selling of yarn, fabrics, and other commodities.
