Ameer Balaj Murder Case: Key Suspect Killed in Alleged Encounter

RAHIM YAR KHAN: Khawaja Tareef Gulshan, also recognized as Teefi Butt, the primary suspect in the Ameer Balaj assassination, has reportedly died in a clash with the Crime Control Department (CCD) in Punjab on Saturday, according to law enforcement sources.

Sources indicate that the incident occurred in the Rahim Yar Khan district of Punjab while CCD officers were transferring the suspect for questioning regarding the homicide.

Butt had been brought back from Dubai just a day prior, where he communicated his desire to return to Pakistan and stand trial.

Authorities assert that the suspect’s confederates ambushed the CCD squad, aiming to release Butt from their grip.

Law enforcement officials stated that during the ensuing gunfire, Teefi Butt was fatally struck by the assailants’ bullets.

Butt, along with Khawaja Aqeel, known as Gogi Butt, and others, was implicated in the First Information Report (FIR) concerning the killing of Ameer Balaj, who was fatally shot last year in 2024.

Ameer Balaj was present at a wedding celebration in a private residential community the previous year when he was killed by a presumed gunman, later determined to be Muzaffar Hussain, an armed associate of Teefi Butt. Immediately following the crime, Hussain took his own life.

He was the offspring of Arif Ameer, widely known as Tepu Truckanwala, who met his demise in an armed assault at Lahore airport in 2010.
