Supreme Court Rejects Pleas Against Judges’ Transfer to IHC

The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed petitions challenging the relocation of judges from three different high courts to the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

A five-judge panel, presided over by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and including Justices Naeem Akhtar Afghan, Shahid Bilal Hassan, Salahuddin Panhwar, and Shakeel Ahmed, addressed the appeals submitted by five IHC judges, the Karachi Bar Association (KBA), the IHC Bar Association, and others.

In February, five IHC judges sought the Supreme Court’s intervention under Article 184(3) of the Constitution regarding the appointment of Justice Sarfraz Dogar as acting chief justice of the IHC, as well as the transfer of high court judges. The petition was initiated by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, Justice Babar Sattar, Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, and Justice Saman Riffat Imtiaz.

This is a developing story and further details will be provided as they emerge.
