Earthquake Shakes Several Cities in Pakistan

A 5.9 magnitude earthquake was felt across various parts of Pakistan on Saturday, including Islamabad, Lahore, and Peshawar, as well as numerous other cities in the provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the earthquake occurred at 11:47 am and registered a magnitude of 5.9 at a depth of 94 kilometers.

The PMD reported that the quake’s epicenter was located in the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region.

The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) estimated the earthquake’s magnitude at 5.8, noting that it struck the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border area at a depth of 92 kilometers (57 miles).

Initial reports indicate no immediate casualties or significant infrastructural damage.
