FBISE Announces Revised Grading System for SSC and HSSC

The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has introduced an updated grading structure for both Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) examinations.

This updated grading system will be implemented beginning with the First Annual Examinations of 2026 for SSC-I/HSSC-I levels. Subsequently, it will extend to the First Annual Examinations of 2027 for SSC-II/HSSC-II levels.

According to the Federal Board, students achieving scores between 96% and 100% will be granted an A++ grade, recognized as “Extraordinary.” Those scoring between 91% and 95% will be awarded an A+ grade, labeled as “Exceptional.”

In a similar manner, a score range of 86% to 90% will equate to an A grade, denoted as “Outstanding.”

Students obtaining scores from 81% to 85% will receive a B++ grade, marked as “Excellent,” while those scoring from 76% to 80% will be assigned a B+ grade, identified as “Very Good.”

A score range of 71% to 75% will allow students to secure a B grade, recognized as “Good.” Scores between 61% and 70% will result in a C+ grade, labeled as “Fairly Good,” and a score range of 51% to 60% will correspond to a C grade, referred to as “Above Average.”

The Board has also stated that students achieving scores between 40% and 50% will be given a D grade, known as “Emerging.” Students scoring below 40% will have their results marked as “Ungraded.”

The notification also clarified that students who do not pass the exams will be permitted to retake them, provided they fulfill the specified requirements.
