Dumper Truck Crashes into Bungalow in Karachi

In a recent incident in Karachi, a speeding dumper truck collided with a bungalow near Defence Road, according to police reports from Thursday.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that the collision resulted in damage to the bungalow’s perimeter wall after being struck by the truck.

Due to the severity of the incident, the driver of the dumper truck was promptly taken into custody by the authorities.

Traffic police indicated that the driver claimed the accident occurred due to a malfunction in the truck’s braking system.

The traffic police also reported that both the driver and the assistant sustained injuries during the crash.

Recent months have seen a surge in traffic accidents involving high-speed dumper trucks, leading to casualties and injuries.

Earlier in the month, reports highlighted that approximately 110 individuals in Karachi had lost their lives in the preceding 132 days due to accidents involving heavy vehicles.

Addressing the growing concern over accidents, Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi recently mandated the compulsory fitting of cameras and tracking devices on all heavy transport vehicles (HTVs), including dumpers, water tankers, and oil tankers.

Furthermore, the Sindh government has implemented restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles during daylight hours and has enforced a speed restriction of 30 km/h within the city’s boundaries. Dumper trucks are now prohibited from operating on roads between the hours of 10 PM and 6 AM.
