Two Fugitives Apprehended in Spain for Terrorism and Abduction

Spanish authorities have detained two individuals wanted by Pakistan for their involvement in terrorism, murder, and kidnapping cases. The arrests were made following an Interpol red notice, as confirmed by the interior ministry on Sunday.

According to the ministry’s spokesperson, the offenders will be extradited to Pakistan after the completion of required procedures. One of the accused, Nawazish Ali Hunjra, is implicated in 23 cases related to terrorism, murder, and abduction for ransom.

The second fugitive, Haroon Iqbal, was also apprehended in Spain. Iqbal is wanted by Pakistani authorities for his involvement in multiple cases, the statement revealed.

This development follows a recent visit by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry to Spain, where he engaged with his counterpart, Fernando Grande-Marlaska.

During the visit, Chaudhry requested action concerning the red notices issued for numerous suspects.

Minister Talal Chaudhry expressed his gratitude to the Spanish government and Interior Minister Marlaska for their swift response and collaboration.

He voiced optimism that this achievement signals the commencement of a broader operation targeting fugitives who seek refuge abroad to evade legal repercussions.

“This marks a significant stride in our dedication to justice. I extend my appreciation to the Spanish authorities for acknowledging the severity of the situation and acting promptly. Our hope is to witness the apprehension and extradition of the remaining fugitives soon,” Chaudhry stated.

Legal actions are currently in progress to facilitate the extradition of the apprehended individuals to Pakistan, where they will be prosecuted under the nation’s anti-terrorism and criminal legislation.

Pakistan has been actively pursuing the capture and extradition of 38 fugitives from Spain, primarily wanted for severe criminal and terrorism-related offenses.

These individuals have evaded justice for a considerable period, exploiting legal ambiguities and inadequate coordination among international law enforcement agencies.

This development is recognized as a significant accomplishment in international law enforcement cooperation, highlighting Pakistan’s intensified efforts to repatriate criminals who have sought sanctuary overseas.
