One of tech billionaire Elon Musk’s SpaceX Starships suffered a significant setback, exploding during a routine test at the Starbase launch facility in Texas. Cameron County authorities confirmed that Starship 36 experienced “catastrophic failure and exploded” shortly after 11 PM local time (9 AM PKT Thursday). Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

SpaceX later stated that the rocket was undergoing preparations for its tenth flight test when it encountered a “major anomaly while on a test stand at Starbase.” This recent explosion follows a previous incident in late May, where another prototype Starship exploded over the Indian Ocean.
