Bangladesh Cricket Team Tour to Pakistan Confirmed

The tour of Pakistan by the Bangladesh cricket team has been officially confirmed, putting an end to the uncertainty that surrounded the series, sources confirmed on Tuesday.

According to insiders, all three T20 International matches are scheduled to take place in Lahore. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to release the official dates shortly.

This confirmation follows an in-depth meeting between PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and key figures from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), including Chairman Nazmul Abedeen and President Farooq Ahmed.

After productive discussions, both boards have reached an agreement to proceed with the series, resolving previous concerns. This three-match T20I series signifies a vital step in the ongoing cricketing relationship between the two nations.

The PCB Chairman conveyed his appreciation to the BCB leadership for finalising the tour and for their continued dedication to bilateral cricket engagements.

Bangladesh will be under the leadership of seasoned wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das, who was formally appointed as the T20I captain earlier this year following Najmul Hossain Shanto’s resignation. Off-spinner Mahedi Hasan will serve as the vice-captain for the tours of both the UAE and Pakistan.

Notably, the series faced potential setbacks due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, in addition to the mid-season postponement of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The original plan had Bangladesh arriving in Pakistan on May 21 in two groups, with a five-match T20I series commencing on May 25 in Faisalabad. However, logistical adjustments and security considerations have led to a revised schedule, with a three-match series now set to be entirely hosted in Lahore.
