In a dynamic display of patriotism and unity, the Sindh government has announced a provincewide celebration of Independence Day under the emotionally charged theme of “Marka‑e‑Haq”, which translates to “Battle for Truth.” This initiative, championed by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, marks a 14-day celebration from August 1 to August 14, 2025, filled with cultural, educational, and civic activities aimed at reviving national spirit across urban and rural Sindh.
The theme “Marka‑e‑Haq” symbolizes the collective resilience of the Pakistani people and their enduring commitment to truth, unity, and progress. This celebration is not limited to just one day it is a comprehensive festival of national pride spread over two weeks, involving ministries, universities, district governments, artists, students, and ordinary citizens alike.
A central feature of the celebration is the launch of a special Freedom Train, which will embark on a symbolic journey from Karachi on August 13, passing through Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, and finally reaching Zero Point in Tharparkar, before returning to Karachi on August 14. This desert safari-themed train will offer not just scenic travel, but also a deep cultural connection to Sindh’s diverse communities.
In Sukkur, a large public patriotic concert will be organized, featuring performances by artists and speeches from key provincial leadership. Thousands are expected to attend, turning the event into a powerful expression of communal unity and celebration.
Simultaneously, universities like the University of Sindh in Jamshoro have kicked off events under the “Marka‑e‑Haq” theme with symbolic walkathons and tree-planting drives, highlighting the link between patriotism and environmental responsibility. These events will expand to include debates, quizzes, and campus-wide flag-hoisting ceremonies, fostering national identity among youth.
The Sindh Cabinet, in a recent high-level meeting, finalized preparations, including increased interdepartmental coordination, security arrangements, and infrastructure support. Ministries such as Education, Culture, and Transport have been instructed to make Independence Day celebrations accessible and meaningful across all districts.
Beyond cultural events, the government aims to leverage this opportunity to spread awareness about regional peace, national progress, and civic unity. A total of six thematic pillars Uraan Pakistan (on diplomacy, economy, and defense), regional stability, soft power, green tourism, civic awareness, and resilience form the ideological backbone of this year’s festivities.
Special instructions have been issued for all schools, colleges, and universities to organize cultural exhibitions, patriotic performances, and awareness sessions. District authorities have been tasked with ensuring that even the remotest towns can participate in the national festivities.
The Governor of Sindh, Kamran Tessori, and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah have called on every citizen to actively join the Independence Day events. They emphasized that these are not merely ceremonial displays but a celebration of Pakistan’s ideology, its journey, and its people’s sacrifices.
As the countdown to August 14 begins, the “Marka‑e‑Haq” celebrations stand as a testimony to Sindh’s commitment to unity, culture, progress, and truth. With parades, concerts, educational initiatives, and the unforgettable Freedom Train, this year’s celebration promises to reignite patriotism and civic responsibility throughout the province and beyond.
