Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Meets Chaudhry Nisar Ali
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif engaged in discussions with Chaudhry Nisar Ali, a seasoned politician and former interior minister, on Sunday, focusing on the current political dynamics of the nation.
The Prime Minister visited Mr. Nisar at his Islamabad residence, where he also inquired about his well-being. Sources indicate that the meeting covered matters of shared interest, the country’s existing political environment, and various other pertinent issues.
Chaudhry Nisar concluded his long-standing association of 35 years with PML-N in 2019. This decision followed disagreements with the party’s leadership that surfaced after the Panama scandal in 2016.
On May 5, 2019, during a press briefing held at Wah Cantonment, Nisar formally declared his departure from the PML-N.
He stated, “I have been a part of the PML-N for a considerable period. My politics are rooted in honor, not in the pursuit of power.”
The experienced politician also noted, “I maintain a strong connection with the family of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, but I have repeatedly stated that I am not affiliated with the PML-N.”
Nisar secured a seat in the Punjab assembly in 2018; however, he was sworn in as a member of the provincial legislature three years later, in 2021.
