Condemnation of Tirah Valley Terrorist Attack
Islamabad/Peshawar: Following the tragic incident in Bagh Maidan, Tirah Valley, where terrorists opened fire on demonstrators, resulting in numerous casualties among innocent civilians, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur have issued strong condemnations.
Prime Minister’s Response
In his statement, the Prime Minister conveyed his profound sorrow over the loss of life. He asserted that the nation’s resolve would not be weakened by such acts of cowardice perpetrated by terrorists.
The Prime Minister has instructed the appropriate authorities to ensure immediate medical care for those injured during the attack. He also reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to eliminating terrorism in all its manifestations.
Chief Minister’s Condemnation and Actions
Separately, Chief Minister Gandapur of KP also expressed his condolences and offered support to the families of those who were martyred or injured in the incident. He affirmed the provincial government’s unwavering support for the victims and their families.
The Chief Minister announced that he has called a jirga consisting of tribal leaders and public representatives in Peshawar to discuss the situation. The aim is to address the concerns and sentiments of the local people.
Gandapur emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order through the district administration and relevant institutions.
Compensation Announcement
A compensation package was announced by Gandapur, which includes Rs10 million for the families of each person martyred and Rs2.5 million for each injured individual. He stated that the KP government is dedicated to fostering lasting peace, public safety, and mutual respect among all communities.
The Chief Minister noted that an all-parties conference (APC) previously addressed similar incidents with utmost seriousness and developed corresponding recommendations. He further announced that a series of jirgas involving elders would commence at the divisional level next week, followed by sessions at the provincial level.
