Security Forces Eliminate More Terrorists in Balochistan
As part of the ongoing counter-terrorism efforts, security forces successfully took down three additional terrorists in Balochistan’s Zhob region. This action elevates the total number of neutralized militants to 50 during the four-day operation aimed at preventing infiltration in the Sambaza area, situated along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released a statement on Tuesday, revealing that weapons, ammunition, and explosives were seized from the militants. These individuals were associated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), identified as a proxy group. The operation occurred between the night of August 10 and August 11.
The military’s media wing affirmed, “Security forces are steadfast in their commitment to safeguarding the nation’s borders and foiling attempts to undermine peace, stability, and the advancement of Pakistan.”
This development follows a previous successful engagement where forces neutralized 33 terrorists attempting to cross into Pakistan from Afghanistan on the night of August 7-8.
Subsequently, another operation resulted in the elimination of 14 more terrorists on August 9, bringing the cumulative count to 47 terrorists killed at that time.
Pakistan has experienced an increase in cross-border terrorist activities since the Taliban assumed power in Afghanistan in 2021, particularly in the bordering provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
A report by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), a think tank based in Islamabad, indicated that Pakistan faced 78 terrorist incidents in June, leading to at least 100 fatalities.
These casualties included 53 security personnel, 39 civilians, six militants, and two members of local peace committees.
Furthermore, 189 individuals sustained injuries, comprising 126 security force members and 63 civilians.
Overall, the violence and operations resulted in 175 deaths in June, encompassing 55 security personnel, 77 militants, 41 civilians, and two peace committee members.
