WWE Night of Champions 2025 Main Event Set: Cena vs. Punk

The headline match for WWE’s upcoming premium live event, Night of Champions 2025, has been officially revealed: John Cena will put his Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against CM Punk on June 28, 2025, at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

This significant announcement was made on WWE Monday Night Raw, where Cena kicked off the broadcast with an impassioned address.

Following a recent tag team defeat at Money in the Bank—where R-Truth’s actions cost him and Logan Paul a victory against Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso—Cena voiced his frustration with the fans and cautioned that he has only 19 WWE appearances remaining this year.

He declared his intention to seize the championship and thereby “ruin professional wrestling forever.”

This declaration prompted the arrival of CM Punk, who didn’t mince words. He challenged Cena’s evolved attitude and recalled their previous confrontation at Elimination Chamber, where Cena uttered “I’m sorry” while applying the SFT submission hold—a moment Punk interpreted as revealing Cena’s inner turmoil.

Punk emphasized that a title showdown between them was inevitable and dared Cena to confront him that very evening in Phoenix, Arizona.

Adopting a heel persona, Cena turned down the impromptu match but proposed an alternative: should Punk desire a chance at the title, he must encounter him in Saudi Arabia at Night of Champions.

This decision gains significance considering Punk’s past vocal criticism of WWE’s events in the region. He once infamously told The Miz to expressively criticize WWE’s Saudi shows.

Regardless of his previous sentiments, Punk has accepted the challenge and will journey to Riyadh for what is expected to be an intensely emotional and consequential main event.

Currently, the Cena vs. Punk match is the sole confirmed bout on the card. Night of Champions 2025 will also feature the King and Queen of the Ring tournament finals, with Roxanne Perez and Sami Zayn progressing to the semi-finals on this week’s Raw.
