Hasan Nawaz’s Century Validates Captain’s Confidence in PSL Season 10
Quetta Gladiators’ skipper Saud Shakeel commended young batsman Hasan Nawaz for his remarkable adaptability and composure during the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10.
Initially an opening batter, Nawaz has been entrusted with various roles within the Gladiators’ batting order this season.
Given that Shakeel and Finn Allen are the preferred opening pair, Nawaz has had to modify his style of play and make valuable contributions from the middle order.
Saud Shakeel recently commented on Hasan Nawaz’s changing batting position, recognizing his adaptability and resilience.
“Hasan Nawaz is deserving of praise. Although he is an opener, he didn’t quite fit into our preferred lineup. We initially positioned him at number 3, then at 6, and now at 4. The ability to adjust to different situations and perform effectively under pressure at such a young age is a testament to his special talent,” Saud remarked.
Nawaz proved his captain’s faith justified with a stunning unbeaten century, amassing 100 runs off merely 45 deliveries. His innings featured four boundaries and nine towering sixes.
He exhibited maturity by initially supporting the experienced Rilee Rossouw, who blazed his way to 104 runs off 46 balls, before accelerating and seizing control in the latter stages of the innings.
Their dynamic partnership propelled Quetta to a substantial total of 263/3, marking the highest-ever team total in PSL history, which proved insurmountable for Islamabad United.
The opposition team succumbed to the scoreboard pressure, getting dismissed for 154 in 19.3 overs, thereby securing a commanding victory for Quetta.
Nawaz accomplished a notable feat, becoming only the second Pakistani batter—following Babar Azam—to achieve centuries in both the PSL and T20 Internationals (T20Is) within the same calendar year.
