Saud Shakeel’s Rigorous Practice Routine

Pakistani batsman Saud Shakeel revealed his demanding practice schedule, stating that he faces approximately 600 to 1,000 deliveries daily.

The Quetta Gladiators captain shared insights with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), noting his intense training regimen that remains consistent regardless of the game format. He dedicates significant time to honing his skills in the nets.

“While individual practice methods vary, I aim for effective training that fosters improvement. I am passionate about batting and dedicate considerable time to it. My practice intensity remains constant, regardless of the format,” Saud explained.

“Facing 600 to 1,000 balls each day has proven highly advantageous for my development,” he further commented.

Leading the Quetta Gladiators, Saud has guided the team to a commendable performance, securing four victories in six matches and holding the second position in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) standings with 10 points.

The 29-year-old also mentioned his focus on enhancing his bowling capabilities, recognizing the team’s need for support in both batting and bowling departments.

“In addition to batting, I am also dedicated to improving my bowling skills. A player who can contribute with both bat and ball brings balance to the team and enhances their overall contribution,” Saud emphasized.

Discussing the PSL, Saud Shakeel drew comparisons between the tournament and international cricket, suggesting minimal disparity between the two.

“The PSL holds immense value for players, offering not only financial benefits but also invaluable experience,” he stated.

“Featuring international players and high-caliber bowlers, the PSL serves as excellent preparation for local talent aspiring to join the national team.”
