Santos Escobar Re-Signs with WWE After Brief Free Agency
Just two days following the expiration of his prior agreement, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has re-signed Santos Escobar. Reports circulated on Wednesday, suggesting he was a free agent during that time.
According to PWInsider, the former NXT Cruiserweight Champion is officially back with the company. Speculation had arisen concerning his departure, with many believing it to be a definitive decision.
The report also indicated that WWE addressed his creative concerns, leading to a new agreement that surpasses the original offer. Escobar reportedly expressed dissatisfaction, desiring a more prominent role in WWE storylines, with financial compensation being a secondary consideration.
Following the announcement of his new contract, it appears that WWE has successfully alleviated his concerns. His potential departure had been a subject of ongoing discussion, with some speculating a move to AEW, a rival wrestling promotion.
The situation unfolded on Monday, October 6, when his previous contract concluded, and his profile was promptly moved to the alumni section of the WWE website. Subsequently, Escobar shared a social media post captioned ‘Palante’ (Spanish for ‘onward’), further fueling speculation about his exit.
During his time with WWE, Escobar notably unmasked himself, established the successful Legado Del Fantasma faction, and held the NXT Cruiserweight Championship for over 300 days.
