Rouble Climbs Against Dollar Amid Rising Oil Prices

MOSCOW: Bolstered by increasing oil values, the Russian rouble has surpassed 81 against the U.S. dollar, marking its highest valuation since June 28, 2024.

At 0900 GMT, the rouble had appreciated by 1.5%, trading at 80.90 relative to the U.S. currency during a period of light trading before the Orthodox Easter holiday. The price of oil, Russia’s primary export, saw a 3% increase on April 17.

The Russian currency has risen more than 40% against the dollar since the beginning of the year, largely due to anticipations of reduced tensions between Russia and the United States.
