Pakistani Embassy in Rome Introduces Chaunsa Mango Gelato
The Embassy of Pakistan in Rome, in partnership with Frigidarium, a well-known gelateria in the city, has unveiled a distinctive Chaunsa Mango Gelato as part of Independence Day festivities.
The “Chaunsa Gelato Festival,” hosted at Piazza Navona, attracted a diverse audience, including diplomats, business executives, officials, tourists, and members of the Pakistani diaspora.
Attendees expressed their admiration for the gelato’s complex taste and scent, which combined Italian culinary artistry with Pakistan’s celebrated Chaunsa mango.
Fabrizio, Frigidarium’s owner and gelato expert, praised the fruit’s exceptional quality, noting that Chaunsa mangoes are “remarkable” with “outstanding natural sweetness and texture,” making them ideally suited for gelato production.
Ali Javed, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Italy, conveyed his gratitude for Frigidarium’s collaboration and suggested future partnerships using Pakistan’s high-quality agricultural products, such as thin-shelled almonds, freshly harvested walnuts, apricot kernels, and saffron from Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He also emphasized Pakistan’s long-grain pine nut, which is highly valued by experts as one of the best globally.
Ambassador Javed also revealed intentions to commemorate Pakistan’s National Day in March with a ‘Kinnow Gelato,’ and he presented Frigidarium with the country’s well-known citrus fruit to further the gastronomic collaboration.
Fabrizio welcomed the proposal, expressing his eagerness to experiment further and enhance classic gelato making.
The embassy stated that the initiative demonstrates Pakistan’s dedication to promoting its premium agricultural goods while also deepening cultural and culinary connections with Italian society.
