Multiple Fatal Road Accidents Plague Karachi

Tragically, at least five individuals, among them a college professor, perished in separate road mishaps across Karachi on Saturday.

Professor Killed in Landhi

The educator was the victim of a devastating road incident when a trailer truck struck him in Landhi’s Future Colony. The deceased has been identified as Iftikhar Ahmed, age 35, an assistant professor at Government Degree College, Ibrahim Hyderi. The offending truck driver fled the location following the incident.

Other Incidents Across the City

In a separate incident near Teen Talwar, a car collided with a motorcycle, resulting in one fatality and one injury. Law enforcement apprehended the car’s driver.

In DHA’s Khayaban-e-Nishat, a food delivery driver using a motorcycle died after being hit by a double-cabin vehicle. The authorities have taken the driver into custody.

Near Karsaz on Sharea Faisal, an unidentified vehicle struck a mother and her son. The young boy died, while his mother is in critical condition.

Furthermore, at Jam Sadiq Bridge close to Qayyumabad, an unidentified car struck and killed a motorcyclist.

Alarming Statistics for 2024

Reports from rescue officials indicate that in the first 151 days of 2024, road traffic accidents throughout the city have resulted in 376 deaths and 5,503 injuries.

The fatalities included 289 men, 40 women, 37 boys, and 10 girls, underscoring the pervasive impact of such incidents across all demographics.

The injured count consists of 4,379 men, 809 women, 242 boys, and 73 girls, which highlights the continuing road safety crisis in Karachi.

Data reveals the involvement of heavy vehicles, which account for 120 fatalities this year.
