Tragic Loss: Ramirez Dies After Head Injury in Match Against Revilla

Raul Ramirez, a teenage goalkeeper, has tragically passed away following a collision during a game for his team, Colindres. The Royal Cantabrian Football Federation (RFCF) confirmed the devastating news on Monday.

Reports from the Spanish media indicate that the fifth-division goalkeeper sustained a critical head injury during Saturday’s match against Revilla. This injury subsequently resulted in multiple cardiac arrests and ultimately led to brain death.

Ramirez experienced two cardiorespiratory arrests both on the field and while being transported to the hospital via ambulance.

The RFCF, the regional governing organization for the league, announced that the 19-year-old was declared brain dead. His family has made the compassionate decision to donate his organs.

“The Royal Cantabrian Football Federation deeply regrets to announce the brain death of Raul Ramirez, the Colindres Sports Club goalkeeper, following an accidental collision during last Saturday’s game,” the Federation stated in an official release.

“During this period of immense grief, and in accordance with his family’s explicit wishes, the decision has been made to donate his organs, offering the opportunity for others to benefit.”

The Federation has announced a three-day period of mourning and confirmed that a moment of silence will be observed at upcoming matches.

“Cantabrian football is in mourning over the sudden passing of a young man who has left us far too soon, at only 19 years old,” the statement continued.

“The RFCF has declared three days of mourning and will hold a minute of silence in his memory at all matches during the next round of fixtures.

The RFCF expresses its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the entire Colindres Sports Club. May Raul rest in peace.”
