Bangladesh to Tour Pakistan for T20I Series
DHAKA: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has secured governmental approval for its forthcoming white-ball tour of Pakistan, according to international reports on Thursday.
Information indicates that the cricket authority has received instructions to proceed with the series, consisting of five T20Is. The official confirmation letter is still anticipated but expected soon.
“We’ve obtained the go-ahead (from the government), although the formal letter is pending. We expect it imminently. The government has, in principle, agreed to allow our visit to Pakistan for the scheduled tour,” stated a BCB official to an international sports outlet.
“Following receipt of the official letter, discussions with players will commence, as some have expressed reservations regarding travel due to security concerns. We assure that participation will be voluntary.”
Previously, the BCB communicated that government authorization was awaited before player discussions and travel arrangements to Pakistan.
The Bangladesh team is currently in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a short tour, featuring two T20Is on May 17 and 19.
Subsequently, a five-match T20I series in Pakistan was planned, initially set to begin on May 25 in Faisalabad. However, the postponement of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 necessitates adjustments to the schedule by both cricket boards.
Consequently, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) submitted a revised itinerary to the BCB on May 13, proposing Faisalabad as the venue for the first three T20Is on May 27, 29, and June 1, with Lahore hosting the final two matches on June 3 and 5.
