Sadaf Shamas Ruled Out of Ireland T20I Series Due to Muscle Tear, PCB Confirms

LAHORE: Sadaf Shamas, a prominent batter, will miss the upcoming T20I tour in Ireland because of an injury. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made this announcement on Friday.

The cricket board stated that the 26-year-old sustained a tear in her left quadriceps during a training session held in Karachi. This injury will prevent her from participating in the forthcoming matches.

Shawaal Zulfiqar, an emerging batter, has been named as her replacement in the team.

“Sadaf Shamas is out of the T20I squad heading to Ireland after she tore her left quadriceps during practice in Karachi,” the PCB stated.

“Shawaal Zulfiqar will take the place of the 26-year-old batter. She previously participated in a 24-player Skills camp in Karachi.”

Shawaal, with experience in seven T20Is and three ODIs for Pakistan, will travel from her current location to Karachi. She will then join the squad before they depart for Ireland on Sunday.

The national team is scheduled to participate in a three-match T20I series during the Ireland tour. These matches are set to take place at The Clontarf Cricket Club in Dublin on August 6, 8, and 10, respectively.

Ireland and Pakistan have competed against each other 19 times in women’s T20Is. Pakistan has a strong record, having won 15 of those matches.

The last T20I series between these two teams occurred in 2022, with Ireland winning the series 2-1.
